Hyderabad, May 24 (NSS): The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, told Muslim elders that the State government has initiated several measures for the welfare of the Muslim minorities in the State in the recent times.

            A delegation of Muslim elders of the State United Muslim Forum, led by the former minister, Mr Mohd Shabbir Ali, called on the Chief Minister at theCampOfficetoday and thanked him for extending reservations in jobs for Muslim minorities for a further period of ten years and implementing several other welfare measures.

The delegation comprised the president of the Forum, Mr Moulana Sulaiman Sikandar, the vice presidents, Mr Qutubuddin Chisti and Mr Qubool Pasha Shuttari, the general secretary, Mr Mohd. Raheemuddin Ansari, the spokesperson, Mr Mohd Abdul Rahim Qureshi, the members — Mr Abdul Mateen Quadri, Mr Mohd. Husnuddin Sani, Mr Ziauddin Nayar, Mr Esmatullah, advocate, Mr Mufti Sadiq Mohiuddin, Mr Khaleelur Rahman and Mr Merajuddin Abrar.

Addressing the delegation, the Chief Minister reiterated that the Congress government was committed to allround development and welfare of poor people in general and the Muslim minorities in particular. The government initiated several welfare measures which include extension of reservations in government jobs and services for a further period of 10 years for the minorities, he added.

The Chief Minister also said that application fee waiver was extended for another 10 years for the minority unemployed youth for jobs. He said that Rs.57 lakhs’ additional budget was sanctioned for Daivtul-Maaraf Osmania, a prestigious Institute on the Osmania University Campus for preservation of oldest manuscripts of Arabic and Persian Languages. He also said that the government has sanctioned construction of a “Haj House” in ten acres atShamshabadAirport, combined with setting up ofMinorities Study Circlefor brilliant poor minority students. Besides, 1.5 lakh minority students were paid Fee reimbursement to the tune of about Rs.20 crores. It was also decided to enhance diet and maintenance charges to the minority students on par with the SC, ST and BC hostel students by constituting Committee. The government also approved the proposal to complete construction of incomplete Shadi-khanas with self-sufficient mode combined with shops and other income generating schemes, he added. (NSS)
