VIDYASAGAR SEEKS CBI PROBE INTO AFFAIRS OF DRUG COMPANIES

Hyderabad, June 18 (NSS): The national BJP senior leader and former Union minister, Mr Ch Vidyasagar Rao, has demanded that the State government order a CBI inquiry into the nefarious activities of drug companies which carried out illegal clinical trials on innocent tribal people.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Mr Vidyadagar Rao said the pharmaceutical companies were conducting clinical trials on humans instead of animals. For meager money, the innocent people were falling into their trap and endangering their lives, he lamented.
Stating that there was truth in the State Health Secretary’s explanation regarding clinical trials, Mr Vidyasagar Rao has condemned the State government’s indifference and apathy towards the issue. He also faulted the State government for trying to escape on pretext that the issue doesn’t come under its jurisdiction. He said that the Bhopal incident will repeat if the government remains silent on this issue.
Demanding that the Centre introduce Telangana Bill in Parliament immediately sticking to the Union Home Minister’s announcement on December 9, 2009, Mr Rao said that formation of Telangana was possible only with the Congress leaders. He said that two Congress Chief Ministers would rule two States, if the State was bifurcated. He opined that the Congress party would get the credit if Telangana State was formed. He pointed out that the BJP was not in power in three new States though it created them.
Calling upon the people to make the June 19 ‘Vanta-Vaarpu’ programme a grand success, Mr Vidyasagar Rao demanded that the Centre announce creation of separate State this month without any delay. He opined that the ‘Vanta-Vaarpu’ programme will be conducted not
