Hyderabad, July 11 (NSS): The Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council, the trade union wing of the TDP, has demanded that the government take steps to ensure the reopening of the closed beedi industries and implementation of the raised wages.
In a statement here on Monday, Mr G Rambabu of TNTUC has stated that the increase in the wages was a result of the relentless fight of eight lakh workers with the support of the TDP. He stated that the party chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, has written to the Chief Minister on June 8, 2011 demanding hike in the wages of the workers and the government had responded on the same day and announced revision of the wages. Though the GO was released on the same day about the increase of wages, the managements of the beedi industries announced lockout and closed the factories from July 6.
Stating that with the closure of industries the pleasure of wage hike was shortlived for the workers, Mr Rambabu has stated that the future of the workers has once again become uncertain. He stated the government should take immediate steps to ensure reopening of the factories and implementation of the revised wages. (NSS)
