Hyderabad, July 11 (NSS): Reiterating that they would not retrace their step on their resignations till separate State was announced by the Centre, the resigned Telangana Congress leaders have decided to go on two-day hunger strike on July 13 and 14.
Speaking to the media at the Exhibition Grounds here on Monday, the resigned Congress MLC, Mr K Yadava Reddy, announced five resolutions. The first was not to go back on their resignations till the Centre announced separate Telangana. The second one was that they would mount pressure on the party high command and the Centre by observing two-day fast at the Exhibition Grounds from July 13 till the morning of July 15. All the resigned public representatives would participate in the fast, he said, adding that protest programmes would to be conducted at mandal level on July 18.
The third resolution was an appeal to the students not to commit suicides and not lose their precious lives. He hastened to add that the Telangana Congress leaders have not only resigned from their elective posts but also ready to sacrifice their lives for the cause.
The fourth resolution was a warning to the Seemandhra media houses not to telecast or publish fabricated news lowering the dignity of Telangana public representatives, people and Telangana movement. Mr Yadava Reddy said it was the last warning to those media houses which were indulging in disseminating false stories. He also observed that the media was trying to break the unity of the Telangana public representatives. He said they would also lodge complaint with the Press Council of India if they failed to stop telecasting or publishing false news.
The fifth resolution was that the Telangana Congress was ready to work with other like-minded organizations or parties for the sake of Telangana. He said the meeting has elected a Co-ordination Committee which would co-ordinate with the MPs, MLAs, MLCs who failed to submit their resignations. (NSS)
