Hyderabad, July 12 (NSS): The AP Beeda Gowda Sangam has demanded that the State government
withdraw GO No. 767 for reopening of toddy depots in Hyderabad City.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, the Sangam president and APCC secretary, Mr M.
Nagabhushanam Goud, alleged that the State government has colluded with private liquor companies
and issued the GO for closure of toddy depots. He said the State government had closed down 103
toddy depots in the city in 2004. As a result, thousands of Goud community people had lost their
livelihood, he added.
Mr Nagabhushanam lamented that though the Supreme Court had ordered reopening of toddy
depots in the city, the State government had failed to implement the SC order so far. He alleged that the
State government was working for liquor companies instead of poor Gouds. He said a delegation of
toddy tappers, led by the AP Gowda Sangham general secretary Mr B. Balaraju Goud, met the Deputy
Chief Minister, Mr Damodar Rajanarasimha seeking withdrawal of G.O No. 767. He said that the
Deputy Chief Minister had assured to discuss the issue with Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar
Reddy, within a week and would take a decision in this regard.
The Sangam State general secretary, Mr Vijayakumar Goud, the Greater Hyderabad unit
president, Mr V. Balakrishna Goud, the Greater Hyderabad general secretary, Mr Manohar Goud and

the secretary, Mr Balaraju Goudm were present (NSS)
