Hyderabad, July 17 (NSS): Urging the Centre to implement the Justice Srikrishna Committee’s sixth
option regarding Telangana issue, the Seemandhra senior Congress leader and former minister, Mr
Gade Venkata Reddy, has said it was not proper for the Telangana leaders to claim that there was no
movement in Seemandhra region in favor of United Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly media point on Sunday, Mr Gade said ‘Jai Andhra’
movement was against ‘Mulki Rules’ and ‘Land Reforms’ but not for division of the State. He recalled
that then Telangana leaders like Madapati Hanumantha Rao, Burgula Ramakrishna Rao and
Ramananda Theertha had strongly favoured a United Andhra and not by Seemandhra leaders. He also
said that 103 MLAs in then Hyderabad State Assembly had supported the United Andhra proposal
while only 23 members had opposed the merger of the Telangana and Seemandhra region, he added.
Mr Gade said one has to remember that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi had won meagre MLA
and MP seats in 2009 elections even though the movement was in high pitch and proved that there was
no strong feeling in the Telangana people for division of the State. (NSS)
