FURTHER DELAY WILL DETERIORATE SITUATION, SAYS PONNAM

New Delhi, July 27 (NSS): The Congress MP from Karimnagar, Mr Ponnam Prabhaker, has said that
the volatile situation in the Telangana region would deteriorate further if the AICC leader in-charge
of State party affairs, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, wasted precious time by holding consultations on
Telangana.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Mr Prabhakar lamented that the Labour
Minister, Mr Danam Nagender, had failed to keep his promise on the postponement of written test for
recruitment of sub-inspectors. Mr Ponnam also advised the Eluru MP, Mr Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, not
to make fun of the separate Telangana State demand.
Referring to the remarks of the Union Home Minister, Mr P Chidambaram, that political
leaders in Andhra Pradesh were split on regional lines on the Telangana issue, Mr Prabhakar turned
tables on Mr Chidambaram saying that the State can be bifurcated as the leaders were divided on
regional lines.
Mr Prabhakar said he was unable to understand why the Congress high command was shy of
making a statement in favour of separate Telangana State when it has unquestioned power to grand
statehood. Pointing out to the Union Home Minister’s statement that Telangana State cannot be
announced unless there was unanimity by all political parties, Mr Prabhakar demanded the Telugu
Desam party to give a letter to the Centre in favour of Telangana.
Appealing to the TDP president, Mr Chandrababu Naidu, to write a letter to the Centre stating
that his party has no objection to formation of Telangana State, Mr Prabhakar said they would make the
Centre to announce Telangana State in a couple of days if the TDP supremo gave the letter. (NSS)
