SOYBEAN SEED PRICE INCREASED BY RS 200

Hyderabad, July 30 (NSS): The State government has enhanced the procurement price of Soybean
seed (certified/labeled) from Rs 2,880 per quintal to Rs 3,080 for the quantity of 3970.40 quintal for
distribution during this year.
According to a GO issued on Saturday, the government had earlier issued orders to distribute
soybean (C/S) seed to the farmers on 50 per cent subsidy during Kharif 2011 with the sale price of Rs
3,080. But, the Commissioner and Director of Agriculture has stated that the market rates of Soybean
seed have increased from Rs 2,880 to Rs 3,200 per quintal including transport and as a result the
tenderers were not supplying the indented quantities of Soybean seed causing a lot of inconvenience in
supply of Soybean seed to the farmers on time. The rate fixed for soybean certified seed by other States
i.e. Karnataka State Corporation is Rs 3,330 per quintal and NAFED rate is fixed at Rs 3,350 per
quintal.
Keeping this in view, the State government has increased the soybean procurement price by Rs
200. (NSS)
