Hyderabad, Aug 1 (NSS): The State government has decided to include Nalgonda district under the
Value Chain Development Hygienic Food Retailing scheme.
According to a GO issued on Monday, the government has decided to introduce a scheme for
promotion of clusters on “Value Chain Development in Food Processing Industries in Andhra Pradesh”
and issued orders to implement it in 10 districts initially and it can be extended in other districts based
on requirements. The districts are: Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, Kurnool, Chittoor,
Kadapa, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Guntur and Prakasam.
The Commissioner of Industries said he had recommended to the government to include
Nalgonda district in the scheme as it has potential for growing sweet orange, Mango, Acid lime,
Guava, Sapota, Papaya, vegetables, spices. He said he requested the government to include Nalgonda
as 11th district under the scheme of Value Chain Development, Hygienic Food Retailing (Pulses, Milk
Products, Vegetables, Pre-cooked Food, Fruit Juices and so on) as they are abundantly produced in the

district. Pulses, milk products, vegetables, pre-cooked food, fruit juices were suggested for the scheme
in Nalgonda. (NSS)
