Hyderabad, Aug.7 (NSS): The proposed strike of the Telangana employees seems to be a reality as the deadlock in parleys between the employees JAC and State government continuous.

            The Telangana Employees’ JAC is enraged over the action of the State government in bringing almost all departments under the provisions of ESMA. As the Telangana agitation reached a crucial point, the JAC may not compromise on their principal demand of introduction of a Telangana Bill in Parliament during the current session. Under the circumstances, the Telangana Employees’ JAC may not defer its plan to go on strike from August 17.

Meanwhile, the government also sent strong signals to the employees by continuing to bring more departments under ESMA even though the JAC protested against the government action. Some ten departments, including Health, APSRTC, APTransco, APGenco and AP Dairy have already issued ESMA notifications. For the first time in the history of the State, the Finance department was also brought under ESMA provisions. Therefore, the Treasuries, Pay and Accounts departments automatically come under ESMA provisions.

As per the provisions of ESMA, the employees, who attempt to disturb the functioning of these departments, will be subjected to punishment of imprisonment up to six months. The leaders, who try to incite the employees to go on strike could also be arrested.

As stern action against the Telangana employees would flare up agitations in the region, the government has decided to implement ‘no-work-no-pay’ rule. It was also decided to provide security to the employees who attend duties. (NSS)
