Hyderabad, Aug. 17 (NSS): The Telangana Rashtra Samiti legislators here on Wednesday alleged that they have been receiving threatening calls from some unidentified persons from time to time.
The TRS MLAs, Mr Etela Rajendar, Mr T. Harish Rao and Mr K. Taraka Ramarao, met the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, at the Chief Minister’s Camp office in the morning and complained to him about the persistent threats and sought increased police protection to them.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Mr Harish Rao said they called on the Chief Minister this morning and apprised him of the threatening calls and urged him to increase security to the TRS floor leader, Mr Etela Rajender, in view of the persistent threats to him. Mr Harish Rao said that almost all the TRS legislators in the region were receiving threatening phone calls for some time.
Mr Rajendar said that they would not keep quiet if the historical buildings were demolished in the city for the Metro Rail Project. Instead of demolishing historical monuments, the government should think of some alterative steps, he added. He also faulted the State government for acquiring hundreds of acres of land for constructing commercial complexes for oustees of the Metro Rail Project.
Stating that the proposed Hyderabad Metro Rail Project would not only pose a threat to the Gun Park opposite the Assembly, the senior TRS leader, Mr Nayani Narasimha Reddy, said that the security to the majestic Assembly building complex would be in danger due to the Metro Rail Project. He demanded that the State government take steps to lay underground railway line to the Metro Rail project. (NSS)
