Muslims asked to keep of anti-corruption stir

New Delhi: Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid has asked Muslims to stay away from Annna Hazare’s stir against corruption  in  India.

In a statement the Imam said the Gandhian social activists war cries ‘Vande Mataram’ (Mother I Salute You) and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ (Hail Mother India) were against Islam.

He said Islam does not condone worship of the nation or land. It does not even condone the worship of mother he said and questioned: “How can Muslims join his stir with that war cry that is against the basic tenets of their religion? I have advised them to stay away.”

Meanwhile  the condition of the social activist Anna Hazare’s health has deteriorated as his  fast unto death entered the eighth day today. Doctors attending on him said he lost 5 kilograms during the first seven days of his fast. He came down from 72 kgs to 65 kgs.
