Karnataka former minister Gali Janardana Reddy arrested


Bangalore, Sept 5 (NSS): CBI sleuths have arrested Karnataka former minister Mr. Gali Janardana Reddy and Obulapuram Mining Company Managing director here on Monday. They were immediately shifted to Hyderabad.
The two are likely to be produced before the CBI Special court in Hyderabad later in the day. Heavy police posse was posted at the Nampalli CBI office and surrounding areas, in view of the arrest of Mr. Janardana Reddy.
CBI sleuths led by the Joint Director Lakshmi Narayana swooped the residences of Janardana Reddy during the early hours of Monday. A ten-member group has raided his Bellary residence.
No loss to the government: Karnataka CM
Karnataka Chief Minister Mr. Sadananda Goud has said that he would not support the Gali brothers in the illegal mining issue. In a statement after the arrest of the former minister, he said the party would not suffer because of the CBI raids on the residences of the Gali brothers or the resignation of their supporter and Bellary MLA Mr. Sriramulu.
Gali arrest is a good development: Narayana
Hyderabad: CPI state secretary Dr. K Narayana has said that the arrest of Mr. Janardana Reddy was a good development. He has demanded that his properties be confiscated.
In a statement here on Monday, Dr. Narayana has also demanded that particulars of the mining mafia in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh be disclosed. He said if investigation was made in Karnataka, several things would come to light in Andhra Pradesh. (NSS)
