Hyderabad, Sept. 12 (NSS): The CBI prosecutor, Mr Vijay Tanka, on Monday submitted to the Special Court for CBI Cases at Nampalli that every body feared the former Karnataka minister and BJP leader Gali Janardhana Reddy.

Arguing the case of the CBI which arrested Gali Janardhana Reddy following allegations of mining irregularities, the prosecutor said that even higher officials of the departments concerned were involved in the mining irregularities. Pleading for custody of the accused to the CBI for further interrogation, Mr Tanka said that if the accused was interrogated further, the names of those who received commissions would also come out. He also said that the officials concerned had deliberately failed in stopping the irregularities. He explained to the court that the CBI was seeking custody of the accused only to determine the complicity of the officials and politicians. He said that Gali Janardhana Reddy had illegally transported 29 lakh metric tons of iron ore at the rate of 3,000 truck loads per day.

Countering the arguments of the prosecution, the defence counsel, Mr Uday Lalit, questioned as to why the CBI had not arrested officials despite mentioning in the FIR that officials were also involved in the illegal mining. He also asked as how could the CBI state it was illegal mining when there was a border dispute between the two States. He said the FIR of the CBI was a pack of blunders. He said the case could not proceed without the arrest of the officials.

While the CBI sought his custody, Gali Janardhana Reddy filed a bail petition in the court. (NSS)
